Pizzeria Espiritu Menu

Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

The place was a bit hard to find for the first time. No WiFi available for customres. Prices moderate. The atmosphere is nice. Local art for sale hangs on the walls next to loving plant life. It's a small resturant and the warm colors give it a cozy feeling. The service is good, however, there seems to be a lack of servers meaning there is a hit of time between visits. The time line seems a bit long it took about a half hour to get any food. I got mine thin crust because we were told that deep dish would take 40 mins. What I wasn't told was that thin crust takes 30. We were onyl given a few pieces of bread and the servers never came around to ask if we needed more. And I was soooo hungry!!!! The choices on the menu are pretty broad there is a nice spread of options so there's something for everyone. There are a number of microbrew options for beer as well as well known big name domestic lagers and a healthy bunch of imports. The wine list isn't anything too extravagant but it is good. The food came out looking great. Very oven hot, watch out!!! I ordered the Sicilian sauaage. The crust leaves something to be desired. The cheese is wonderful and stringy. The mushrooms, onions, and sausage are all cooked very well. Over all its not a bad resturant but it is very slow to get anything. This seems to be because there was a full resturant and only 2 or 3 people to do anything. The food is good but the wait hurts my thoughts of ever coming back.

Worst pizza I've had! The crust was tasteless and burned. We had the espiritu pizza, dip dish with sauce. The bruschetta was delicious. The bread was good. The service was slow - 2 tables to wait in the whole restaurant. Don't get it how people can rate this a 5 start???!!!!!

We were starting out a motorcycle trip with 10 people from the El Rey Motel and really wanted delivery pizza, Yelped these folks- they let me know they were swamped, but we could pick up. Got amazing pizza and salad and excellent service to boot and very quickly! I even called them back to tell them it was so. Next day, the manager saw that my phone number was on the call log several times and was concerned that we had not been helped--we were in Pagosa Springs by then, but I called her back to assure her it was the contrary--excellent service! Chicken pesto pizza and walnut salad--the best ever!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe by far. I've been a loyal customer for three years, and I intend to keep returning there for as long as they make pesto calzones and chocolate mousse. The only reason it isn't five stars is because it's a bit pricey, so it's not for everyday eats. But for special occasions, it beats all.

I've been going to Pizzeria Espiritu fir the pizza for years. Maybe it's because the original owner first made pizzas near in home town in the Chicago suburbs and the taste is familiar. Maybe it's because the pizza is just good. Dine in or carry out experiences have always been great.

  • Julie D.

They can do nothing wrong. Food is always delicious, the crust on the pizza is always perfect. The staff is super friendly. When we get deliveries I can't help but always call them and tell them how wonderful it was. Usually people call to restaurant to complain, not us.

I would recommend the deep dish pizza. Great and fresh basil, tomatoes and delicious pepperoni and sausage. The artwork in the restaurant was very fun and interesting to look at. The service was considerate and attentive.

My husband and I discovered the place on yelp. It is in a strip mall but the decor is cute and the staff funny and attentive without being overbearing. The food has always been great, the wine selection small but decent, if a bit pricey. We love the decor and atmosphere and make it back just about every visit.

I used to love this place and have come here for 10 years or so. However, my boyfriend and I ate here for lunch today and it was truly disappointing. We ordered a 9$ antipasto that was lunch meat and cheeses that were likely from the Lowes next door. The menu advertised prosciutto and we received chopped up ham. While comical, very annoying. The entrees were decent; I had a salad and my boyfriend had pasta. I would have given one star but the waitress discounted the antipasto. I'm currently writing this while I lay in bed holding my tummy. I paid close to 50$ to get ill from this food. No good.

On vacation with my family, ages 12-70. A table for 7 was quickly set up on a Monday night. We ordered a dinner salad and an order of garlic bread for an appetizer. Let me tell you that feta salad dressing is no joke, it was delightful. They also bring out bread and olive oil before the meal and the bread was very fresh. We ordered a large pesto chicken pizza and large sausage pizza. Omg. Even my 70 year old stepdad's not a big pizza guy but he was a fan of these pizzas! That crust! My daughter ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, it could have had more garlic for my taste, but she enjoyed it. We were too full for desert and ended up getting a to-go box to take home 4 slices. Decent wine and beer selection. It's in a strip mall, but if your looking for a great meal don't let that kind of thing hold you back from trying this place.

They deliver! The salad was really good. The pizza, just okay. Based on reviews, I was expecting more. No one wants the leftovers.

Love this place. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Americo pizza. Rich tomato sauce covered the pizza and the ingredients made for a very yummy pizza. The crust was thin and just right. The service was outstanding. The restaurant was clean. We will be back.

  • William B.

Horrible all around, from the food to the service. Especially the food. The crust was like cardboard.

Good pizza, great crust but I thought it was a little pricey when my 12" pie came to a total of $20 by itself.

Definitely will not eat here again. We've been long time customers, since Madi and Tom owned the restaurant. The worst service ever and come to find out that our waitress was the MANAGER. She left halfway through our seating and the gal that replaced her wasn't any better. So when it came time to pay, I asked to speak to a manager, not knowing that our first waitress was the MANAGER because my son complained of the food tasting a little off. He actually got a stomach ache and I mentioned that to the waitress. She turns around and tells me that whatever I fed my son 24hrs ago gave him food poisoning. Like WTF??? Seriously? I never mentioned that their food poisoned him just that it tasted "off" and his tummy didn't feel good after 20-30mins of eating. I told her she wasn't a Dr and neither was I but just wanted them to know the food didn't taste right. Ugh, after going in circles with her she then proceeds to give me the attitude that I'm trying to get out of paying my bill. I told her I had every intention of paying, wasnt asking for a discount, that I was just unhappy with the service, the food, her attitude. She then gives me a $5 discount after I told her I didn't want one. So to be a bitch, I whip out a $100 bill to pay for my ticket. Then I proceeded to tell her now I know why we haven't eaten there in some time and we definitely won't be back. Gave 1 star even though I didn't want to give any because I had no choice.

Came out in a snow storm to get a mushroom deluxe pizza for my sick husband. This was our first pizza from Espiritu. I walked in to a delicious smell of garlic and other good things. The pizza was very good, thin and flavorful. The crust is thin, but it was different than other thin crusts I've had, flakier somehow. We'll be back.

    (4)
  • Donna B.

We have only had the pizza here... mostly the mushroom deluxe. We really enjoy their pizza... we ate in their dining room once and the service was prompt and the food was served in a timely manner... it was busy and they had no problem keeping up with the orders/service. We like it enough to become regulars...

Probably the best pizza in New Mexico so far, although that's not saying a lot. My first visit was fantastic. Great pizza, friendly staff. Second time around, the crust was really soggy and there was very little tomato sauce on the pizza. Their wine servings were expensive and small. Both waitresses were pretty grumpy. The atmosphere is nice - more sophisticated than a typical pizza place. The location is nondescript - in a strip mall - so you might miss it. The advantage is plenty of easy parking. I'm going to go back for another try.

The red meat sauce is awesome. They need to bottle it up and sell up. Cream of spinach soup was quite tasty as well. I will be back.

This is one of those pleasant surprises Santa Fe pulls on you every once in a while. Pizzeria is hidden away in an obscure strip mall on St. Michael's, which works to its advantage since it's a small place and family-owned. That being said, they could probably afford to find new digs downtown and make a pool of money from tourists, but then say bye-bye to the locals! It's namesake pizza, the Espiritu, is fantastic. Rich, smokey flavors are only maybe slightly dumbed down by an overabundance of mushrooms, but then again, I'm no fan of the fungus myself. My favorite is the Chicken Pesto Pizza. Perfection wrapped up in primary flavors with hints of tangy surprises like artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes. My only objection to these pies might be their crusts. They're perfectly baked, but lack a real kick in terms of taste--the idea of a soda-cracker crossed my mind for a second. Anyway, I'll be returning soon enough. I have yet to try their pastas and one, the Green Chile Afredo, caught my eye. PS: Waitstaff is warm and friendly!

  • David W.

Out of Towners!!! :-) Having our fill of Mexican, we ventured out for some pizza. This place is located in a strip mall, but the good is anything but... Thin crust Amorica pizza was the perfect blend of flavors and the service was delightful.

  • Gary E.

This probably is the worst pizza in Santa Fe in a town that doesn't have much to offer in this category. The crust was a tasteless and dry, the "sauce" was just a smear of canned tomato paste, there was no pepperoni on what they laughingly call their "Supreme" pizza and the Italian sausage seemed to be no more than a couple chunks of flavorless ground beef. Back to Joe's Dinner for at least a passable pizza.

I had only been in NM for less than 1 day and was dying to try some of their pizza, and we chose this place based off some yelp reviews. It was REALLY good, and different than pizza on the East Coast. We chose the (what I believe is called) Espiritu pizza, deep dish to go. Took about 25 mins to cook, while we were outside enjoying the nice weather. The staff was very friendly, and since we were bringing it back to our hotel, they hooked us up with some plates, utensils, napkins, and even some small cups of oregano, red pepper and grated cheese to put on top! Awesome! I really loved that the pizza was not greasy at all, the toppings were very fresh, and the crust was chewy and hearty!

  • Wendy M.

Santa Fe pizza is not usually very good. This place is the exception. Crust is chewy not crispy, great fresh toppings, huge size! There are other great italian specialties as well, salads, sandwiches, pasta etc. If you want great Italian food in Santa Fe at a decent price, try this little gem!

  • Michael B.

My wife and I have been by here a couple of times after a friend gave it a recommendation. We've now tried the ravioli, pizza, and pasta. All have been very good. The outside of the place makes it look a dive that you would only want to do a quick pizza pickup from. However, if you get past the outside appearance it is a very nice location to have a quite meal with a significant other or another couple. It only has about a dozen tables. The clientele is generally locals and the two evenings we have been there it it more mature than other "pizza places". Service has been friendly and the portions are generous.

  • Vin M.

I love pizza and this is my favorite place for pizza in NM. The crust is just right and the ingredients are good and fresh. The only thing that might make it better is if it was a wood fired pizza. The salads, sandwiches and bread with olive oil are very good as well. (If you like a good Cesar salad you won't be disappointed) Fast and friendly service too. It's never very busy which is very surprising. In fact, I thought it was new when I first discovered it, but it 's been around for quite a while. It seems to be a bit of a secret which I like.

Last night in Santa Fe. The house is empty. How's that we didn't discover this place 5 years ago? I believe that fresh ingredients are the sicret to great pizza. I was not disappointed!

  • Douglas S.

Sometimes, or rather often as I have found, you find these little gems tucked away in ugly strip malls. In Santa Fe you have Felipe's Tacos, Chow's Asian Bistro and Pizzeria Espiritu amongst others. One might ask "what about Santa Fe Baking or Jinja?" Yeah, but I'm talking about really ugly, out of the way shit malls. "The Margarita Pizza is the best and it's kinda classy, in an art deco kind of way" is how my small town east Texas friend, now Santa Fe transplant, once described it. I agree, there are some great original pieces gracing the walls of this uppity pizza joint. Some great wines too.

  • David G.

Pizza average, nothing special. Service slow. Server was very friendly however. All "clean" tables were sticky, not sure what's up with that, suggest owner cover them or get new surfaces such as glass. Took too long to get refill on drink. Art-deco decor. Has potential, but we found was lacking regarding table being sticky (such as if you touch something gets under your finger nail), and slow service -- need more servers that just one person.

Ive been eating at this restaurant for 10 years. The only reason it isnt 5 stars is that their pizza isn't my absolute favorite in the world... that honor belongs to Giovanni's over in ABQ. Anyway, we just LOVE their espiritu salad with the feta dressing. We always order the pepperoni and sausage pizza (made to order). Their rosa ravoili is quite good but pretty overpriced at $15.95. I usually get it when we get the buy 1, get 1 entree free coupon in the mail. I also quite like their complimentary bread & olive oil. There's not much NOT to like about this restaurant- great food, good service, easy parking. Enjoy!

Fabulous food! Had the deep dish meat pizza. Loved it...Nice service, peaceful atmosphere and they really did give us 20% off..We didn't even ask. I just told her we found her thru Yelp. It was alittle hard to find...sort of a strip mall but don't be fooled...It is really nice inside..Great wine too...Thanks!

I was craving for some pizza when I found this place. I quickly went inside even though I haven't eat there yet. The place was nicely furnished and the waiter immediately greeted me and gave me a seat right away. That's what I'm looking for on a restaurant. They were also helpful to first timers like me. So when my pizza came, it looks good. And the first time I have a bite on my pizza, it felt like heaven in every bite I take. Just wow! Everything is cooked well. Pizza really makes me happy and so it this place!

YUM, YUM, YUM! The food was so delicious! The pizza was tasty and the caprese salad was surprisingly fresh! The service from the Hostess/Young Lady who helped the server was very sweet. The Server validated I was still in Santa Fe. People just aren't friendly here.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
